In explaining the significance of this research, Dr. Padervand stated: "Given the expanding applications of photocatalytic systems in the purification of organic, inorganic, and biological pollutants, as well as in energy production within the framework of green chemistry, this field has become one of the important and rapidly growing areas in modern scientific research. This study examines a wide range of industrially scalable approaches for constructing photocatalytic systems, along with the advantages and limitations of each method."

He added: "In this article, the environmental applications of photocatalytic systems for the effective removal or conversion of pollutants, as well as energy conversion processes, are comprehensively described. An effort has been made to provide a clear picture of this technology's potential to address environmental and energy challenges."

Referring to another part of the research findings, this faculty member of the University of Maragheh said: "One of the main focuses of the article is the analysis of the performance mechanisms of three-component semiconductor systems and how to simultaneously utilize their electronic and photosensitivity characteristics to achieve higher efficiency. In this regard, by explaining charge transfer and separation mechanisms, the practical application prospects of these structures on an industrial scale have been evaluated."

Dr. Padervand further noted: "To overcome the limitations of traditional photocatalytic systems, dual-heterojunction nanocomposites based on S-scheme designs involving three semiconductors have been introduced since early 2021. Due to their unique charge transfer mechanism, these structures play a significant role in addressing existing challenges and accelerating the development of photocatalysts for industrial applications. In this article, the position and potential of this class of novel structures are specifically discussed and their future prospects are outlined."
