In the aforementioned laboratory, various tasks are carried out, such as preparing fossil samples, photography, research, and conducting laboratory sessions for geology classes. Furthermore, highly valuable specimens are on public display in the laboratory's fossil exhibition.
These specimens cover various aspects, ranging from mineral samples from Iranian mines including malachite, azurite, pyrite, manganese, turquoise, agate, etc., to some sedimentological samples such as traces of nodules and concretions. Finally, the fossil specimens in this exhibition include bivalves, gastropods, ammonites, trilobites, shark teeth, plant fossils, echinoderms, trace fossils, foraminifera, some evidence of bioerosion, stromatolites, and more. These were sampled over various years from different locations across Iran, such as the sedimentary basins of Kopeh Dagh in the northeast, Zagros in the south and southwest, Tabas, Kerman, Alborz, etc.
The age distribution of the fossil specimens in this exhibition ranges from 400 million years ago to 10 million years ago.
